Fusebox Arts Festival

Funny, Amazing, Appalling and Arousing? Yep, It’s The Austin Texas Fusebox Festival

How can an Arts Festival be funny, amazing, appalling and arousing all at the same time? All I can say is, you have to be there.

The Fusebox Arts Festival is a hodge-podge of theater, dance, spoken word, music, food and technology. But it is no place for the purist. Founder Ron Berry’s vision is all about “mixing it up”. Like myself, Ron is an artist who likes to ask questions and experiment. Sometimes the experiment works and sometimes it may be a disaster but it’s always interesting and likey to be the subject of conversations afterword.

In this series of interviews I traveled to Austin Texas to interview Ron Berry who is both the founder and artistic director of the Fusebox Arts Festival, Ron is a fascinating character who has an infectious passion for pushing the envelope of artistic expression and performance. We discussed how Fusebox came to be and where it’s going, Theater vs Film, how one gets the word out on such an eclectic event and the similarities of a good arts experience to a good travel experience.

I’ve attended this festival myself for the past 3 years and I can say that there are always an assortment of experiences there to provoke new ideas within a creative, open mind.

Ron has some great ideas and some wonderful insights to share so watch with an open and present mind and you may just gain some creative insights of your own.
